It’s funny how life repeats itself in families. Sons follow in father’s footsteps as do daughters and even granddaughters.
We are a family of teachers. My maternal grandmother was a teacher in a one room schoolhouse in Texas in the early 1900s. My daughter-in-law’s mother was a teacher as was my daughter-in-law. And … although my primary interest was writing and journalism, while attending college I had opportunity to teach in a private school at the same time I was working towards my degree.

Fast forward to the 21st Century and my granddaughter, (who is working towards her Bachelor’s Degree with a focus on Education and a California Credential in both elementary and secondary education), has been afforded the same opportunity I had. While finishing her education, she is presently acquiring experience in her field working as a teacher’s aide in a private school in Costa Mesa, CA.
Some people would call this a coincidence, others luck or chance, but as a believer I see it as something that was meant to be, a part of God’s plan for my granddaughter’s life.
I am not sure where her life will go from here, whether she will remain a teacher or pursue another vocation as I have, but wherever life takes her, I know that by God’s grace it will be in the place that she was meant to be.
